Neuromuscular Re-education

Neuromuscular Re-education uses very firm pressure but only a few strokes are performed. The practitioner works from where the muscle starts and finishes, this stretches the tissues and breaks down any scaring and adhesions that have built up after any trauma.

This then decreases any scaring and adhesions and gives the muscle more elasticity, which will then give the joint more range of motion. With this comes a reduction in pain and an increase in healing. Neuromuscular re-education tends to follow a set protocol. The maximum time for treatment is about 15 min. At the Loxwood Pain Clinic I integrate this with other forms of treatment if I feel the patient would benefit from it.
